2014 Annual Meeting
April 10-12, 2014
Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois
The 91st Annual Meeting of the Central States Anthropological Society will be held at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, adjacent to Illinois State University, from Thursday, April 10 through Saturday, April 12, 2014. Faculty, students, independent scholars, and practitioners are invited to present or hear papers, give poster presentations, and participate in workshops and roundtables in all four fields of anthropology, including applied subdisciplines. It also offers an opportunity for anthropologists from throughout the central states area, from institutions large and small, to meet, talk, and network together in a welcoming and professional environment. CSAS conferences encourage student participation as well, and students are also invited to submit papers for both our undergraduate and graduate prize competitions. [Instructions for submitting abstracts will be posted here soon.]
The conference is supported by Illinois State University, and local contact persons are Jim Stanlaw (email@example.com; 309-438-7690) and Nobuko Adachi (firstname.lastname@example.org; 309-438-8036). Jim Stanlaw is also the program chair for the meetings, and is available to discuss any organized symposia that members may wish to propose.
Bloomington-Normal is centrally located, and is serviced by several major airlines—including American, Delta, Allegiant, and Frontier—and the Marriot itself is three blocks away from the Amtrak station. Ample garage parking is also available (free to hotel guests; $8.00/24 hours for others). Reservations at the Marriot can be made at 800-627-7468 or 309-862-9000, and the conference rate (single or double) is $119/night. See “Conference Lodging”, “Conference Parking”, and “Travel Directions” in the left-hand menu for more information.
