Our committee was developed and chaired for many years by Ray Barnhardt,one of the leaders in developing culturally-responsive learning and teaching for Native Alaskans. Our committee continues to carry on his work by offering papers, conference sessions and information on the relationship between specific biosystems and cultures, and showing how those cultures that have demonstrated their sustainability have often developed highly specific practices well-suited to the characteristitcs of their particular region.
