CAE operates through By Laws, a Board of Directors that meets at the AAA Annual Meeting and committees, organized by subject area to sponsor and co-ordinate sessions at the AAA Annual Meeting. Each committee holds a business meeting at the AAA Annual conference to plan for the next year's conference. Attending these meetings is a good way to become active in CAE, meet others with similar research or teaching interests, and learn how anthropology and education intersect.
Stimulated by findings and recommendations presented in a report submitted by a presidentially appointed Diversity Committee (see Diversity Report, CAE has conducted on-going discussions in its Board meetings and in open sessions at the annual meetings to address the recommendations raised in the report. As a result, CAE has established a standing committee on the Mission and also a new committee on Indigenous Education.
