| Description North American Conference on the Study of Radicalism Religious and Political Radicalisms: Mapping the Territory Call for Papers The second North American academic conference on radicalism will take place at Michigan State University on June 17-20, 2010. The aim of this conference is to explore the multiple forms of contemporary and historical radicalism in a transnational context. We welcome submissions from all relevant disciplinary or interdisciplinary approaches, including religious studies, anthropology, history, sociology, American and cultural studies, and political science. Paper and panel topics will be wide-ranging, and may include religious radicalism, anarchism, environmentalist and ecological radicalism, technology and anti-technology, pacifism, violence and terrorism, protest art, sexual radicalism, indigenous radicalism, anti-imperialism, "third way" political movements, corporations and radicalism, militias, right-wing movements, anti-radicalism, radical conservatism, esoteric forms of religious radicalism, fundamentalism, and other related areas. Please send abstracts to radicalismconf2010@gmail.com no later than 15 December 2009. Send your abstract (no more than one page) in an email, as well as in an attachment in Word with a .doc suffix, and note your institutional affiliation and position.
